Twenty-five years ago today, the 1984 Olympics opened in Los Angeles. Among the participants was one Joan Benoit-Samuelson, a “small-town Maine marathoner” who ended up beating Grete Waitz to the finish to become the winner of the first women’s marathon.

In a Slowing Economy, Running Picks Up

An article in the Wall St. Journal today reveals that more and more people are turning to running and triathlons in order to fill their free time. This the result of either having been laid off or simply looking for a diversion in troubled times.
