Thoughts Before Chicago

My first marathon was Chicago in 2005. I knew that after a frustrating college career I needed a change of pace. Since I love long runs and have a goal of completing an Ironman someday I figured the marathon was the next logical step. A friend of mine was getting into longer distances and having success and I asked him for advice, but for the most part my training involved throwing darts at the wall and hoping it would all come together. I didn’t have a coach or a structured training plan but I did have a lot of passion. My goal was to break three hours and I was pretty nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

Tera Wins Crossroads Half Marathon

Thank you to all the people who have sent me emails about the article in Runner’s World. I appreciate all the feedback and I’m trying to get back to everyone. I got some great suggestions regarding sleep and anxiety management and have been trying to implement them into my life. Doing the story has made me realize that while I have come a long way I am still a work in progress. My biggest goals right now are to be a little less hard on myself and focus on enjoying the amazing people and opportunities I have in my life.
