Do You Sprint to the Finish?

We’ve been checking out the forums over at CoolRunning.com and came across an interesting dilemma someone had. He’d sprinted the last segment of a recent 5k race and ended up passing around 10 people. He felt a bit guilty as a result. What do you think? What is your approach to finishing a 5k and do you ever hold yourself up a bit, for any reason?

Chicago Marathon Recap Video

A nice video recapping the Chicago Marathon. Turns out men’s winner Sammy Wanjiru didn’t know he was on track to break the course record, which is why many supporters probably cringed when he began waving to the crowd the last few seconds, clearly unaware it may be slowing him down. He ended up breaking the record by two seconds.

What a Day…

I really didn’t know what to expect going into the marathon. I have never run marathons only 7 weeks apart and I knew it was a gamble. I will probably not do it again because it was very challenging. But I’m really happy I did it this time and that it worked out very well for me.

A New 5K PR!

I was in Chicago for my dad’s birthday last week and I decided to take advantage of sea level and hop in a local 5k race. After doing a lot of marathon pace workouts leading up to Berlin I wanted to get the feel of a faster race. My goal going in was to really push myself and be “hands on my knees” tired at the end.
