Do you know that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach that you get when waiting for the rollercoaster to take off? Excited anticipation mixed in with an intense desire to vomit?
Mix that in with a pressing need to make use of the restroom facilities, and that’s how I felt at the count down to the start of the Freihofer’s Run for Women.

24:45. That number has been in the back of my mind for two years. It’s my time from the Freihofer’s Run the last time I ran it, in 2009. Hi everyone! I hope you’re all excited about the race this weekend—I sure am! I’ve brought my dog on so many runs with me that he’s probably ready for the race as well.
After last year’s race, as I’ve said before, I realized it was more about community and every person running with you will gladly support you and push you along if you need it (not to mention the crowd that lines the streets to cheer you on as well! I remember people shouting at me, “Way to go UB!” or “Keep it up University at Buffalo!” because of the shirt I was wearing). Remember, HAVE FUN when you’re running! Pace yourself, especially with the warm weather, and remember to take a cup or water when it’s handed to you! Don’t skip out on breakfast, either. My breakfast of choice last year was oatmeal and it satisfied me the entire way. I grabbed an apple and some OJ after the finish.
